Sutherland Fields Reimagined — Preserving a Legacy, Building a Sustainable Future

Glendora, California

Reimagining Sutherland Fields for the next generation.

A community-led initiative restoring sixteen acres of public space in the heart of Glendora — for youth, families, learning, recreation, and the beautified outdoor landmark every neighborhood deserves.

The Problem

Three fields. Years of deterioration. Only one of them works.

For too long, Sutherland Fields has been a missed opportunity. Unsafe surfaces. Inconsistent conditions. Families and kids who deserve better — locked out of a public space that should be theirs.

Broken perimeter fencing and overgrown grass around a long-unused field.

Why This Matters

Why should you care if you don't play baseball?

Because Sutherland Fields isn't just three baseball fields. It's sixteen acres of public space in the heart of Glendora — and how we treat that space says everything about the community we want to be.

Kids deserve safe places to play.

When fields fall apart, children stop showing up. Restoring Sutherland means giving the next generation of Glendora kids a place to learn, compete, and grow up well.

Community spaces shape neighborhoods.

A revitalized Sutherland isn't just for athletes. Walking paths, shaded gathering areas, and beautified landscaping turn the complex into a place every Glendora family belongs.

Outdoor environments shape childhood.

Outdoor learning, free clinics, school field days, and summer camps. Sutherland becomes a year-round outdoor classroom — not just a venue.

The Vision

From three broken fields to a community landmark.

Six phases. Restored athletics. Safe night lighting. Community gathering areas. Outdoor learning programs. Water-stewarded landscaping. A beautified neighborhood landmark. Each phase makes the next one possible.

Restoration in progress — fresh dirt being delivered to rebuild the infield.
Phase 1In progress

Restored Fields

Three fields, only one playable. We're rebuilding the infield, regrading drainage, and restoring the turf so every field returns to use.

Wide view of the field with the San Gabriel mountains beyond — soon to be lit at night.
Phase 2Planned

Lighting & Safety

Modern LED lighting and updated safety infrastructure so families can use the fields well past sunset.

Community Gathering Areas

Shaded seating, picnic areas, and walking paths that turn the complex into a place families come — not just a place games happen.

The Movement

Families. Neighbors. Local businesses. All of us.

Sutherland Fields Reimagined isn't one organization. It's a community of families, schools, local businesses, and partners showing up — at cleanup days, at board meetings, at the city council, at the fields.
