After months of community input and contractor walkthroughs, the Sutherland Fields board voted unanimously on April 12, 2026 to begin Phase 1 of the restoration: rebuilding the infields on Fields 2 and 3, regrading drainage on the Championship Field, and replacing perimeter fencing across all three.
What Phase 1 includes
- Full infield rebuild on Fields 2 and 3
- Drainage regrading on the Championship Field
- Perimeter fence replacement on all three fields
- Updated dugout fencing and benches
- A long-term maintenance plan to keep the surfaces playable
What's next
Once Phase 1 is underway, we'll begin community-input sessions for Phase 2 — the lighting and safety upgrades that will let families use Sutherland well past sunset. If you want to be in the room, become a member of Friends of Sutherland and you'll get the invite first.
